The Committee for Oversight of Research and Clinical Training Involving Decedents (CORID) is responsible for the review and approval of all proposed activities that require the use of human cadaveric material in order to :
* provide a mechanism for institutional oversight of
proposed activities to evaluate whether they are within
ethical and societal norms;
* follow a process which considers the scientific or clinical
merit of each proposed study or training activity; and,
* ensure that informed consent was appropriately secured,
either via body donation registration, autopsy
authorization, or consent provided by next of kin or legal
representative.
CORID Application and Approval Procedures:
* Send an email request for access to the CORID
application to matusaksa@upmc.edu
* If cadaveric material is to be requested via the Center
for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE):
* complete a CORE Research Submission Request
(see attached form);
* Request an approval letter from CORE; and,
* Submit approval letter to CORID via fax @ 412-647-1920
or email @ matusaksa@upmc.edu
* Complete and submit the CORID application. A letter of
support from the department chair or division chief is
required and should be faxed to 412-647-1920. (See
attached sample)
Once CORID approval has been received, the following requirements are effective during the course of the activity:
* Submission of an annual report is required at least two
weeks prior to the designated renewal date so that yearly
approval may be granted to continue the activity;
* A modification request for any changes in the scope of the
activity; and,
* Submission of a final report upon completion of the
activity.
